เคยเรียนรู้กันไปแล้วว่าคำนามแบบไหน ประเภทไหน ควรใช้ Articles หรือ a , an , the อย่างไร แต่รู้ไหมว่าก็มีกรณียกเว้นหลายคำเหมือนกันว่าไม่ใช้ Articles ใดๆเลย ซึ่งกรณีดังกล่าวมีดังนี้

–          ภาษาต่างๆ จะไม่ใส่ Articles

ตัวอย่าง She speaks fluent English. 

แต่ ถ้าหมายถึงประชาชนหรือคนในชาติจะใส่ Articles เช่น the Danes, the Thais, the Japanese.

หรือมีคำนามตามหลังก็จะใส่ Articles เช่น He is studying the German language.

–          ประเทศจะไม่ใส่ Articles

ตัวอย่าง She was born in Thailand.

แต่ ยกเว้นในกรณีที่ชื่อประเทศเป็น พหูพจน์ หรือขึ้นต้นด้วย the Republic of…. เช่น The people’s Republic of China, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland เป็นต้น

–          มื้ออาหารจะไม่ใส่ Articles

ตัวอย่าง I invited her out for lunch.

He has lunch at noon.

แต่ จะใช้ Articles the เมื่อมีการชี้เฉพาะเจาะจง

–          วิชาชีพจะไม่ใส่Articles

ตัวอย่าง My son is good at mathematics.
