ปกตินั้นคำว่า go จะแปลว่า ไป แต่ถ้านำมารวมกับบุพบท เป็น go-ing , go to…, go for.. และ go on นั้นก็จะทำให้มีการใช้งานที่แตกต่างกันไป  มาดูกันว่าแต่ละชุดคำมีการใช้งานอย่างไรบ้าง พร้อมตัวอย่างเพื่อให้เข้าใจมากขึ้น

Go + -ing :  เราจะใช้เกี่ยวกับกีฬา เช่น go swimming , go skiing และรวมไปถึง go shopping

ตัวอย่าง

• Are you going jogging this afternoon?
• It’s a nice day. Let’s go fishing.

go to… : จะตามด้วยคำกริยาที่เป็น infinitive หรือ คำนาม มาลองดูตัวอย่างด้านล่าง

ตัวอย่าง

• I’m going to Japan next week.
• What time do you go to work?
• She didn’t want to go to London.

Go to sleep = เริ่มที่จะนอน

go for… :  ปกติเราสามารถใช้ตามโครงสร้างนี้ได้ go (somewhere) for+ a  walk , a run , a drink , a swim

ตัวอย่าง

• Do you go for a walk every morning?
• I met Patty in town, so we went for a coffee.
• Shall we go out for a meal?

go on…: สำหรับ go on นั้น ส่วนใหญ่ก็จะใช้คู่กับชุดคำศัพท์เหล่านี้  go on a trip , go on a tour , go on holiday , go on  strike , go on an excursion
