สำหรับ In the end และ At the end นั้นมีการใช้ บุพบทระหว่าง in และ at ต่างกัน ก็จะทำให้มีความหมายแตกต่างกันดังนี้

In the end หมายถึง ในที่สุด (Finally) เราจะใช้ in the end เมื่อพูดถึงสถานการณ์ หรือผลลัพธ์ในท้ายที่สุด
ตัวอย่าง

• She got more and more angry. In the end she just walked out of the room.
• We had a lot of problem without car. We sold it in the end.

โดยสิ่งที่ตรงข้ามกับ In the end ก็คือ at first เช่น At first we didn’t get on very well, but in the end we became good friends.

At the end (of something) หมายถึง ณ เวลาที่บางสิ่งบางอย่างจบลง เช่น at the end of the game , at the end of week, at the end of the course , at the end of March เป็นต้น เราจะไม่ใช่ In the end of …. อย่างเช่น In the end of month แบบนี้ไม่ได้

โดยสิ่งที่ตรงข้ามกับ at the end (of…) ก็คือ at the beginning (of…)
